Our approach

The Rub Chicago is a therapeutic massage practice run by a Board Certified Licensed Massage Therapist (BCTMB, LMT) providing quality health care. The focus of the practice is to assist you in your mental and physical self care.

Client sessions integrate massage therapy, visceral manipulation, and sensory-driven music. Stretching, joint mobilization, and recommendations for postural or behavioral modification are included as needed. Connecting with our LMT today to reach your therapeutic goals.

Mending body and mind

Compassion is the core of The Rub Chicago. Each client sets their health goal for the session. Stress relief. Muscle tension. Sensory-driven music calms the nervous system while the practitioner’s hands balance the body.

 FAQs

  • Absolutely you can still enjoy a massage if you have eczema or psoriasis!

To ensure your comfort and avoid exacerbating your skin condition, communicate with your Therapist. Let them know of any sensitive areas or flare-ups so they may gently treat or avoid these areas.

We use all natural almond oil unless we are made aware of a tree nut allergy. If this irritates your skin, let us know so we can adjust our medium.

If your eczema is inflamed, consider rescheduling as massage can increase circulation and heat, which might exacerbate itching or irritation in some individuals.

As always, hydrate well after your massage and apply your usual skin care treatments to keep your skin moisturized and soothed.

If you're unsure, it's a good idea to consult with your dermatologist before scheduling a massage to discuss any specific precautions you should take based on the condition of your skin.

(Contagious skin conditions such as warts, poison ivy, rashes, ringworm, etc. will be avoided. Putting a bandage over these areas helps your Therapist stay safe!

  • Your body type is not an issue. Our massage therapist treats all body types and sizes. Our goal is to help your body accomplish what you want it to do. Chances are, we’d love to see you.

  • It is totally okay to fall asleep. That means you have entered into “rest and digest”, a naturally calm and safe state of the body. It is opposite the “fight or flight” response we are in most of the day, so it is the perfect place for your nervous system to be during your massage.

  • With 17 years of practice, I’ve come to realize that my hands act as a human stethoscope, absorbing and assessing information from your body as I work. Your muscles and soft tissue are an ever-changing landscape, so each massage is different. Your body leads me to areas needing assistance and provides real-time feedback on the efficacy of my work.

Oftentimes, an area you point to as restricted or in pain gives me the “symptom” rather than the “source”. In these cases you may feel like I am not working on your requested area; do not be discouraged. Your body will lead me to the source of the pain/restriction for treatment.
